The Chief Executive of Downtown in Business, Frank McKenna, is hosting three events focussing on the Northern Powerhouse initiative at international property conference MIPIM UK next week.
The London showcase attracts over 5,000 delegates from across the globe, and Mr McKenna will be in conversation with Manchester City Council Chief Executive, Sir Howard Bernstein; Liverpool Chief Executive Ged Fitzgerald; and Lancashire based property and regeneration expert David Taylor.
Strong delegations from Greater Manchester and the Liverpool City Region will be sharing exhibition space once again, whilst Lancashire is attending the event for the first time.
The Downtown boss said:
“This is an opportunity for the city regions and the county to market and promote to international investors. It is an effective way of getting strong messages out to institutions and individuals who are actively seeking investment opportunities.
“In terms of the wider agenda, the Northern Powerhouse is now a significant and recognised brand. I know that there has been some suggestion that the new Prime Minister is not as keen on the initiative. I don’t think that makes any political or practical sense.
“We have already built a brand that has caught the imagination of the international investment community. It would be daft to abandon it now.”
Mr McKenna will be interviewing Sir Howard at a breakfast forum on Thursday morning. Ged Fitzgerald will be joined by the Chief Executive of Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter Colin Sinclair for a Thursday morning session; whilst Lancashire’s set piece event takes place on Wednesday afternoon with Taylor, the Managing Director of Carillion Rob Holt and Andy Delaney of Colliers.
The conference runs from Wednesday 19th October – Friday 21st October at the Olympia, London.
