After the success of the Business of Blogging hosted by Old Granada Studios, the team at huddled returned to OGS for their latest event, I Am Entrepreneur on Thursday 16th November to hear from a selection of panelists.
In partnership with NatWest’s Entrepreneurial Spark programme and to celebrate Entrepreneurship Week, the event focused on stories from a handful of business leaders in the UK. The panelists included Sam Jones from Tunafish Media and Jamil Khalil from wakelet.
Writer and presenter, Clancy Walker talked us through the event itinerary, followed by Dale Sidebottom from Entrepreneurial Spark. He talked about the company’s ethos which focuses on helping to support people who want to make a difference and what actually defines an entrepreneur.
Once the introductions were over, we heard from the panel. They all came from different backgrounds, industries and had contrasting views that changed the audience’s perceptions on what makes an entrepreneur.
For example, We Are Gntlmen Managing Director Matt Bird advised the audience to be curious and creative in whatever you do, while Matt Byrom from 4040 Media gave his tip on how attention to detail is paramount if you want to succeed.
It was interesting to hear from such a diverse range of people who talked openly and honestly about how they started out in their careers. I was particularly intrigued to hear from the likes of 17 year old fitness app developer, Lydia Jones and Dave Rigby from Three Rivers Gin, who both believed their passions helped to make their brands grow.
Each panelist had a story to tell and used their failures and setbacks, as well as their achievements, as a positive stepping stone for getting to where they are now.
