QualitySolicitors Acklam Bond, a highly successful and progressive law firm based in Accrington, Lancashire has won children’s charity Barnado’s’ Big Bake competition. Zaida Khatton, receptionist for QualitySolicitors AcklamBond was crowned the ‘QualitySolicitors Star Baker’ for her vanilla sponge cake. Her entry was rewarded for its innovate design, as it was shaped and decorated to look like a Barnardo’s cottage.
Firms across the QualitySolicitors nationwide network held internal bake-offs in their efforts to win the prize, with the resulting ‘Champion Baker’ of each company submitting their creations to Barnardo’s , who awarded each entry a score from out of 10.
Zaida worked on the cake across two days. She said: ‘I’m very happy to have won the competition. Barnardo’s is an amazing charity that does so much for vulnerable children.
‘This was the inspiration for my cake, their whole ethos is about providing a safe haven for children and I wanted to represent that with my Barnardo’s cottage.’
The firm have donated the winning cake to local Barnardo’s sheltered housing project ‘Rachel’s House’. Rob Farquharson, a Barnardo’s project worker, said: ‘The cake looks amazing and tasted even better. The children were delighted when it arrived. Congratulations to Zaida for creating such an outstanding show stopper of a cake.’
