Conrad Bird CBE, the GREAT campaign Director working in the Prime Minister’s office will be the keynote speaker at this years City of Liverpool Business Awards (COLBA).

The GREAT campaign is a cross-government initiative designed to deliver trade and tourism benefits to the UK by harnessing the best that Britain has to offer under a single brand and promoting our strengths to the world. GREAT is a significant contributor to the International Festival for Business, which will be hosted for the third time in Liverpool in 2018.

Downtown Chief Executive Frank McKenna said: ‘I am delighted that Conrad has agreed to join us. He is a talented individual, with an important job at the top of government. He understands business, and I am sure our audience will appreciate his contribution.’

Mr Bird will also lead a discussion with business leaders at a special Downtown lunchtime event prior to the gala awards dinner, which takes place on Thursday the 13th July.

The City of Liverpool Business Awards (COLBA) was established by Downtown Liverpool in 2005 to acknowledge and celebrate companies that has made a successful and significant contribution to economic growth in the city region.

Inspired by former chancellor Gordon Brown’s ‘inner city 100’ initiative, COLBA rewards businesses that have done the most to regenerate local communities and drive the Liverpool city regions competitiveness.

Arguably the most prestigious of all the Downtown gala awards dinners, this black-tie occasion is hosted at the spectacular venue that is the Sefton Park Palm House.

With only 260 tickets available for this exclusive ceremony, the sell-out event attracts entrepreneurs, business leaders, academics, and decision makers.

The event is supported by Liverpool’s economic development agency Liverpool Vision and the City of Liverpool mayor’s office.
