Manchester-based telecommunications provider MID Communications Limited has announced the appointment of Danny Simpson as their new Chief Executive Officer.
Danny, who lives in Rochdale, took up the newly-created role from April 1st after being part of MID Communications for almost eight years.
He started his career as a Regional Sales Manager, before being promoted to Sales Director in 2011.
During this time he has achieved incredible growth within the company, increasing the business from the original five stores and 43 employees with a £4 million turnover to a company today which is on target to achieve a turnover of £20 million next financial year.
Mr Simpson said: ‘I am honoured and privileged to have been given the opportunity to move to the role of CEO.
‘I have enjoyed working and growing the business and love to see our amazing people grow and move forwards with it.
‘It is rewarding to be a part of a fun, exciting, passionate and ambitious business that’s very customer centric, while remaining persistent in everything we set out to achieve. I have developed a business plan with some exciting growth opportunities for MID Communications over the coming years.
‘I want to launch the MID Group soon as we gear up to expand and diversify. I am fortunate to have an energetic and focused workforce who deliver amazing results every day and I am proud of all our team.
‘I wrote the vision and set off on a mission to build a leading franchise that is people and customer centric seven years ago. This has helped to keep me and the business driving for results while making sure our customers are at the heart of everything we do.

MID Communications is an independent franchise of Telefonica UK which is a Manchester based O2 franchise, with 15 O2 Stores across Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and the Fylde Coast, in addition to a Manchester-based call centre.
It is one of the largest independent O2 franchises in the North West and employs over 160 people. The company was established in 2006 by directors Andrew and Ian Murray. The brothers were responsible for recruiting Mr Simpson to their management team in 2009.

The decision to promote Danny to CEO greater reflects his key central role in the continuing growth and development of the business.’
Mr Simpson has delivered and supported the delivery of some amazing personal and company achievements.
The company was Investors in People silver accredited 2016. Mr Simpson is a local board executive for Cash for Kids with radio station Key 103. He is also a National Board trustee for Bauer Media Cash for Kids UK, with Sally Aitchison MBE. Danny is a North West Ambassador for the NSPCC and is vice president of the Oldham Business 100. He supported MID Communications in being accredited for Helping British Businesses and in becoming O2 Franchise of the Year for Best Local Marketing & Best Local Initiatives, Business of the Year finalist 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, Mobile Industry Awards Finalist, Key 103’s Manchester’s Business of the Year 2016 and Most Supportive and Charitable Business in Manchester 2016 from Key 103.

In the second half of 2016, the company grew by an additional six stores and 50 employees. MID Communications has also recently acquired new head office premises as it relocates to Stake Hill Estate Rochdale. This has doubled its office space to over 6,000 square feet.
