A special award to commemorate Sir Howard Bernstein’s contribution to the city will be presented at the annual City of Manchester Business Awards on 22nd June.

The former council Chief Executive has been an enthusiastic and consistent supporter of event host, Downtown in Business, and the Chief Executive of the private sector lobby group, Frank McKenna, explained:

‘We wanted to be able to show our appreciation to Howard for the incredible work he has done in Manchester – and for the great support he has given us since we launched here eight years ago.

‘Rather than present him with an award, we have named one of the special awards after the great man. I am delighted that he has agreed to this, and the first ‘Sir Howard Bernstein award’ will be presented at our 2017 gala dinner next month.

‘The award will go to a company that has demonstrated a significant commitment to Manchester; an innovative business, one that has the entrepreneurial edge that represents the city and Howard Bernstein’s work here.’

The awards ceremony is fast heading for a sell- out, and takes place this year at the Principal Hotel.
