Take a glimpse behind the scenes at Edge Hill University’s new £16m Creative Edge building. This ‘fly-though’ video of the Departments of Media and Computing’s new building provides the latest impressions of the state of the art facility, which is set to enhance the student learning experience and is on a par with those used by the BBC at MediaCityUK.

Housed on the landscaped Eastern Campus, Creative Edge is on schedule for completion in September 2013. It will provide industry-standard facilities for students studying courses in Media, Film, Animation, Advertising and Computing.

Vice-Chancellor John Cater said: “We’re investing heavily in providing top quality learning and teaching facilities on campus. The opening of Creative Edge will ensure that the University’s media students and local partners have access to facilities on a par with those at BBC’s MediaCityUK and will provide professional opportunities for both the University and the locality.”

Key features will include:

· TV studios with broadcast capacity and full production capabilities for news, drama, documentary and experimental work
· Recording studios
· Sound-editing suites
· Radio studio
· Animation studios
· Photographic studio
· Multimedia laboratory
· Networking and forensics laboratories
· Computer laboratories

It will also provide a dedicated space on campus for businesses who wish to recruit students for internships and forge links with academic staff through research and consultancy projects.

The Creative Edge development will accommodate several of the University’s employment partners, including Bay TV, who have just been awarded the licence to run Liverpool’s new local television station. Media students at the University will be helping to operate the regional operation from the new facilities on campus.
