An Oldham company is heading to the world’s largest trade fair in southern Germany this week.

UNIC Cranes Europe, based in Broadway Business Park, will be exhibiting their machinery at Bauma, which will be held in the Bavarian capital of Munich between Monday, April 11, and Sunday, April 17.

Last held in 2013, Bauma is the world’s leading trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines and construction equipment.

UNIC Cranes Europe will be using the event to showcase their full range of compact mini cranes. The mightiest of these machines will be the URW 1006 which, despite being only two metres wide, is able to handle weights of up to 10 tonnes.  It has been used to lift luxury cars at Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix, as well as removing and replacing 16 silencers on air blast circuit breakers at a National Grid substation in East Claydon, Buckinghamshire.

UNIC Cranes Europe’s managing director, Gill Riley, said: “We are really looking forward to showcasing our services at Bauma – it is a great opportunity for us.

“Bauma is the number one show for the construction machinery and mining industry, with over 3,400 exhibitors. At the last show in 2013, over half a million visitors from more than 200 countries attended, and there are high hopes it will be even bigger and better this time. This gives us a fantastic platform to showcase our products to potential buyers from many different countries.”

UNIC Cranes Europe, as part of the GGR Group, offers a complete range of mini spider cranes to dealers throughout Europe and the United Arab Emirates. The group was established in 1995 by brother and sister team Graeme and Gill Riley, who now hold the posts of chief executive and managing director respectively.

From small beginnings, the company employs over 100 people across three UK sites; its headquarters in Oldham, near Manchester; Long Crendon in Buckinghamshire and at Blantyre in Scotland. The company also has a network of around 30 dealers across Europe and the United Arab Emirates.
