30 May, 2017, Manchester- The recent release of PlayStation Gear, a new ecommerce platform, opens a gateway for players to indulge in their passion and display support for the highly-regarded, latest and legendary games.
With the new online shop now launched throughout Europe across three territories – England, Germany and France – it’s never been easier for fans to get their hands on PlayStation’s official goods. The ecommerce store features an exclusive range of premium clothing, accessories, gifts and collectibles by PlayStation and PS4 game favourites including Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, and Resident Evil.
The intuitive new platform was strategised, designed and developed by e3creative, Manchester’s award-winning integrated agency, and Managing Director, Jake Welsh provides these remarks:
“When CentreSoft and PlayStation approached e3creative to build the new website, we were absolutely delighted. Our agency has a continued focus and commitment to great user experience in the products we make, so to work with brands who are aligned with the same thinking and vision is always refreshing. The PlayStation Gear platform has utilised all areas of expertise within the agency, from strategists, analysts, UX designers and digital artists through to coders and security teams. It’s been a triumphant effort from all of the teams involved. With the platform only just launched across three territories, there are already encouraging results and engagement levels from gamers across the world, so we look forward to growing the platform into further territories globally, and providing access to gamers worldwide.”
Simon Fairhurst, Head of Design and UX at e3creative, explains more from the design team’s perspective:
“The PlayStation Gear project was an exciting journey for everyone involved, coming with its own set of challenges. Myself and the team had to work hard to ensure the platform was visually impressive while in keeping with PlayStation’s brand guidelines. We wanted to make sure the PlayStation Gear platform had its differences compared to the PlayStation website, which is why we made subtle changes to some areas of the site, such as the colour of the site’s navigation. An aspect of the site that stands out to me is the product listing page; for this particular section, we focused heavily on UI and UX, including filter options to give users the chance to completely customise and create their own customer journey.”
Since inception in 1995, PlayStation has earned a network of millions of active subscribers, undoubtedly dominating the console market, continuously disrupting barriers in gameplay. Continuing this trend, the PlayStation Gear store enables players to take their adventure one step further. What could be more exhilarating than displaying your beloved pastime in a stylish way, or getting into character with a pre-game ritual?
